About the Keynote Speaker
Dr. Jennie DiBartlolomeo
Dr. Jennie DiBartolomeo holds a doctorate in Education from Clark University, specializing in Education Administration and training, a BA in Education from the University of New Hampshire, an MA in Individualized Education from Goddard College, and a CAGS in Language and Reading Education from Boston University.
She is a graduate of the part-time Police Academy in New Hampshire and the author of a workbook for providers and students entitled, “Mission Statement for Batterer Intervention Program Providers and Students.”
Dr. DiBartolomeo is a former Co-Chair of the Manchester (NH) Domestic Violence Council, former Complaint Investigator for the New Hampshire Department of Education, and former Undergraduate and Graduate Instructor in criminal justice, psychology, and education.
She has worked the domestic violence crisis helpline and served as a domestic violence volunteer witness victim advocate for A Safe Place and has provided family violence assessments for the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. She wrote curriculum for the certification of Guardians ad Litem.
She is a former New Hampshire Auxiliary State Trooper who served in the areas of law enforcement training and provided educational consulting for the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council. She has given training specifically on domestic violence to various agencies such as the New Hampshire YWCA, Family Justice Institute in Manchester, NH, Merrimack County (NH) Visitation Center, International Visitor Leadship Programs (US Department of State), DOVE attorneys and medical staff at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH.
Dr. DiBartolomeo has especially provided training to New Hampshire law enforcement such as police departments, the Hillsborough County and Rockingham County Superior Courts and New Hampshire Department of Corrections.
Dr. DiBartolomeo has been trained in three different national batterer models, Wicklander-Zulawski anti-deception techniques and specialized training on strangulation by the Institute on Strangulation and has provided expert testimony on domestic abuse to various courts in New Hampshire.
She serves on the NAFC Board of Directors and has been a member of NAFC for over 20 years. She advises prosecutors in New Hampshire regarding domestic violence programming and has been a member of the Greater Manchester Domestic Violence Council in Manchester, NH from 1998-2022. Dr. DiBartolomeo has served on the Attorney General’s Committee on NH STANDARDS for the past 20 years and helped to write the STANDARDS.
Since 1994, Dr. DiBartolomeo has been a provider of Batterer Intervention Programs, Anger Management Programs, and Violence Intervention Programs in private practice in Manchester, NH. She also provides specialized programs on strangulation abuse for batterers and education programs for victims of domestic abuse.
About the Keynote Topic
The Keynote session will examine how batterers think, utilize language, interpret intimate relationships, and will expose the batterers’ concrete and abstract beliefs.
A review of the components of criminality and the escalation of criminal behaviors impacting the batterers themselves, the victims, law enforcement, providers and society will be presented.
Current and future trends of Batterer Intervention Programs will be explored including the controversy of appropriate treatment, the challenge of evidence based programming and the effectiveness of Batterer Intervention programs.

About the Presenter
Joseph Marinello has been a member of NAFC since 2001, and is a Clinically Certified Domestic Violence Counselor, Diplomate, and NAFC Board Member. He is also the recipient of the 2018 NAFC Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mr. Marinello retired as an inpatient therapist, discharge planner and group facilitator with the River Birch Unit at Behavioral Health Davidson. He prides himself as being a seasoned veteran whom ignites his peers toward their commitment to excellence. His calm demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills allows him to engage patients with empathy, compassion, and competence.
He was recognized as one of the 80 finalists for the 2015 & 2016 Pinnacle Award.
Prior to transferring to BH Davidson, Marinello was with the BH Charlotte Assertive Community Treatment Team where he spent 11 years working with dual diagnosis patients in the community. He was recognized numerous times as Employee of the Quarter.
He is also an anti-violence educator who taught courses in Community Corrections, Institutional Corrections, Ethics in the Criminal Justice System, Introduction to Corrections and Domestic Violence. In terms of his research interests, he has developed a workbook for violent offenders entitled D.A.R.T. (Domestic Abuse Rehabilitation Treatment) and is very well recognized in the community for his work in the Domestic Violence arena.
Mr. Marinello is a Fellow, Diplomat, and was awarded Counselor of the Year 2005. In 2004, he was presented with a "Distinguished Member" award. Since 2001, he has presented workshops and seminars at numerous NAFC annual conference. In 2006 he was presented with the "Men for Change Award" by the state Attorney General from the North Carolina Coalition against Domestic Violence.
His many accomplishments as a Program Developer and Coordinator for the North Carolina Department of Corrections, a Facilitator for the Mecklenburg County NOVA Program, an educator for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and a "Qualified Mental Health Professional" provides valuable insight to his students. Beside his vast accomplishments he involves himself in the community with a program entitled Men for Change and is the educational coordinator for a project named "Coaching Boys Into Men".
